Hey dear friends, Happy June to you!
And let’s hear it for the 18 new subscribers and a whole bunch of followers who joined us in the merry month of May. We’re all so happy to welcome you aboard!
There's nothing like combing the water’s edge for elusive sea glass to teach all us sojourners a few lessons ...
like paying a whole lot more attention to the subtle clues of what's happening around us
keeping both eyes open for quiet gems that usually stay hidden
tuning out endless noise to focus on what matters most
treasuring the nuances and hidden serendipity of random discoveries
believing without a doubt that our Heavenly Creator specializes in producing miracles when you least expect them
Thought-provoking reads ...
How to Edit Everything - Karen Trefzger
’If we edit the clutter from our homes the way a writer edits words, we wind up with just what we wanted. No fluff. Just the pure and useful cream of the crop.’
Rejoice, Y’All - Marva Dawn
’One of the reasons we need to gather for worship is because our own expressions of thanks are too shallow, too flimsy.’
People’s Last Words are Often These Four Phrases - Ashton Jackson
‘They waited until it was late to show their appreciation for others or right their interpersonal wrongs.’
When We Can Look Back & See Growth or Healing - Lois Flowers
’A key learning from last year was that if I set out to write something because I’m feeling insecure, I’d be better off scheduling coffee with an in-person friend instead. As I shared here, “My motivation behind my writing must be to encourage, not to elicit sympathy or affirmation.”
That post prompted my blogger friend Linda to share some helpful insights in the comment section. “I’m thinking this is a constant conversation many of us have with ourselves, often unconsciously,” she wrote. “How much do we share, how transparent should we be, is this our story to tell, and why are we going there in the first place. Only God can give us those deepest words of affirmation and comfort that others can never (and shouldn’t have to) give us,” Linda continued. “And as He does, our draining/empty wells begin to fill to overflowing and we’re freed up to focus on those around us.”’
Lord of all creation
Of water, earth, and sky
Heavens are Your tabernacle
Glory to the Lord on high.
- Chris Tomlin
Sometimes a picture paints a thousand words.
Especially when writing time is scarce
& life outside is beckoning
& words can't capture
hope, gratitude, joy, miracles.
What will you do
this weekend that you'll
remember five years from now with
fondness, a smile, & deep gratefulness?
We’d all love to hear. Your words may end up being a sweet, needed encouragement to a kindred spirit soul.
