Porch #151 🌻 4 questions to transition you from summertime to fall
+ autumn-y snapshots & a one woman's benediction of gratitude as we purposefully move ahead

a soft place to land
a calm weekend haven
a gentle pause from life's busyness
experiencing the lovingkindness of Jesus
& doing life together in community
Hey all you transitioning companions, welcome back!
We’ve been talking about fall for weeks like it’s all in charge but the truth is that at least ‘round these parts, it’s officially been summertime. I’ve been outside as much as humanly possible, soaking up the sun’s rays, puttering around in the gardens (and yes, the compost pile), walking the shoreline early evenings, readying myself to lead a 4 week grief support group, reconnecting with friends, and cheering on the grandkiddos with texts and prayers as they’ve embarked on challenging journeys.
Our house has been the site of cozy living, shared meals, quiet evenings, and far too many impromptu bursts of song during recent months and we wouldn’t have had it any other way. It will be very strange when our summer houseguests move on to greener pastures. With lots of mixed emotions, we’ll pack them up and send them off with our trademark ‘manic’ enthusiasm. I won’t know whether to laugh, cry … or maybe join my little sister in singing yet another off-key tune together.

A few end-of-summer process questions to sit with -
1. What turn of events surprised me most?
2. How did I handle the disappointments?
3. Where did I see God hard at work?
4. What joyful memory will linger longest?
‘The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.’
- Genesis 1:12

Such lovely photos! I've been soaking up every last feeling of summer that I can; though today really does feel like fall.
