This little online community is getting ready for summer 🥤 Porch #184
We're giving ourselves grace and space to get a bit healthier mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. And we're going to do it in the company of kindred spirits.
Friends, we’re back together again on the porch and I couldn’t be happier.
This week, our Lazy Genius guru Kendra Adachi asked the magic question, “what can I do now to make summer or some aspect of summer easier later?”
Today I’m encouraging you to tend to whatever random tasks are swirling around in your head before summertime descends, so that you clear the decks for what’s coming up and can be fully present for whatever God has waiting in the wings.
Around here, I’ve taken care of . . .
☑️ My monthly Amazon Subscribe & Save order for a mid-June delivery
(this is how I do my grocery shopping because prices are so outrageously ridiculous and check-out lines so overwhelmingly awful in this neck of the woods)☑️ The random piles of paperwork
(bills, cards and notes, calendar updates, the email inbox, organizing travel details, all the things)☑️ My basement shelves
(a big reorganizing project that’s been hanging over my head far too long and I can’t begin to tell you how crazy happy I am at the results)☑️ Signing up for the American Association of Christian Counselors brand new FREE video series STRONGER: 10 Days to Strengthen Your Mental Health and Well-Being.

I’ve been a member of the AACC for about 35 years. They’re the real deal. I just watched Day 1 and it was excellent - Stop letting anxious thoughts take the lead. Day 2? Managing your emotions before they manage you. Ahead? Creating daily rhythms to improve sleep, set boundaries, and deepen relationships.
And just because I think this series has the potential to be so incredibly life-changing, I’m dedicating our June editions of PORCH to our mental, emotional, and spiritual health based on the subjects we’re going to be learning about.
Be sure to sign up for the free series today. I think all you Grace & Space porch people are going eat it up.
Let’s spend the month ahead chatting heart-to-heart about what we’re gleaning along the way. Be sure to subscribe so you won’t miss a single conversation. And please help me spread the word by sharing with your friends, fans, and followers. And yes, as ever, if you like what’s happening around here, click that little 🤍 below.
Can’t wait.

A CHRIST-CENTERED WEEKEND NEWSLETTER
gentle conversation & calming snapshots
uplifting linkage & occasional surprises
for those who delight in doing life
in the company of kindred spirits
Yesterday was very good,
memory to be glad I kept.
I sat upon a floor of wood,
and as I worked, I wept
from nausea and searing pain
as the drill press motor spun,
but I elected to remain,
and in remaining, won
the knowledge that I still could make
the parts to build a thing of flight,
and that the cancer could not break
my journey back to warming light,
a dream that came from misty youth
that holds me in its lovely truth.

Yeah, aeroplane parts. Yeah, it hurts so much to do it, but I have to invest in a future. Otherwise I won't have one.
The online seminar sounds great. And I think it's awesome that June is mental health month on the porch.
Thanks bunches for sharing this edition of the porch with Sweet Tea & Friends this month dear friend.
