I added "Becoming The Pastor's Wife," "The First Ladies," "Lifestyled," and "Caring Assertiveness" to my TBR list. And purchased a C.S. Lewis book. :)

I've never heard that expression before and I love it, friend!

Currently reading Time of the Child by Niall Williams and basically added his whole backlist, including the nonfiction he's written w/ his wife, to my TBR.

Also began No Greater Love by Rebecca McLaughlin, a book about Christian friendship.

Am working my way through Paul David Tripp's Everyday Gospel this year.

Next up: Jeff Zentner's In the Wild Light, for my neighborhood book club.

Oh you know you've got a great author when you're adding the whole backlist to your TBR stack! And yes, I've got Everyday Gospel on my desk ... but I find myself reaching for other devotional books because the font size on this one is so small.

* sigh *

I love getting a look at your book stack! I also love how they run the gamut—the sign of a life well-read. ✨

Currently I’m working through Chesterton’s “Orthodoxy”, Jami Attenberg’s “1000 Words”, and “Crime and Punishment”

I have heard about the Mitford series, but have yet to read one. I'll need to catch up! Right now I am re-reading Anne of Green Gables as I have an upcoming trip to Prince Edward Island in celebration of my 60th birthday (the setting of Anne of Green Gables and the late author's, Lucy Maud Montgomery, residence).

Becoming the Pastor's Wife sounds interesting. I suggested the audio version for our Libby. I had forgotten about The First Ladies. I love Eleanor Roosevelt, and I don't think I realized it was about her. I added that one to my Libby holds! Thanks for sharing.

Stacie, I'm glad you're here! And yes, it was kind of cool to find Eleanor featured in a historical fiction book. I wonder what she'd think about that ...

Thank you for the recommendations. One that I am enjoying is "the best of you", Break free from Painful Patterns, Mend Your Past, and Discover Your True Self in God, by Dr. Alison Cook. For light Christian fiction on your Kindle I recommend Dora Hiers series on the Season Sisters. Start with Autumn's Daddy.

I too am a big fan of your book recommendations, Linda! Two of these--The First Ladies and You Are the Beloved--will have to go on the TBR/TBP lists, depending whether I can borrow them from the library. With you and other commenters I'm looking forward to My Beloved by Jan Karon, coming out in October! Currently I'm reading Dane Ortlund's In the Lord I Take Refuge. He's written a devotional for each of the psalms that pulls rich meaning for today out of these ancient songs.

What would we do without our library system, Nancy?! I seldom buy books unless I really want to keep a copy forever or love the author. Thanks for the Dane Ortlund recommendation. I loved Gentle & Lowly in 2021.

I often find worthy titles to purchase at thrift stores too! Of course, they're rarely hot off the presses, but recent doesn't guarantee meaningful anyway.

I love how varied your book recommendations are ... a little bit of everything! I have Shira Gill's book Life Styled from the library right now. I really like how she manages to give good tips/ideas in a way that feels low key, no pressure.

I just checked, Lauren, and you have one copy, I have one copy, and there's two other copies checked out on Cape Cod!

And yes please for low key, no pressure. We've got enough people telling us what to do and how to do it.
