Linda, this is take two (so far) on trying to leave a comment. :) I know, new things take time to learn. I'm so proud of you for making the move and creating this beautiful space. I hope it's very successful for you. I loved what you had to say about transitions. I'm navigating the transiton from mothering kids at home to mothering "bigs," so to speak. It's been a definite transition in my heart and thoughts. Thank goodness God walks with us through all of it!

Yay Jeanne!!!! You did it!!!! I hope it helps to know that you're not the only one who's tentatively making their way through these first steps. Next time it'll be easy peasy. Thanks so much for going the second mile ... I really appreciate it.

I’m checking into substack because you are one of several writer I’ve encountered as recently converted or thinking about converting. I’m “lost in the weeds” at the moment, but researching and praying for wisdom.

I’m loving that I can comment now. I think I signed up ok. At 76 yrs old transition isn’t a piece of cake. I’ve enjoyed all your posts and will continue to I’m sure.

Paula, you're so right. Change can be hard and transitions seem to go on forever. That we can navigate them in the company of others is kind of soothing and hopeful. That's why we give ourselves and each other the grace and space to move on, struggle, and accept. I'm so glad to do this journey with you, friend!

Linda, this new space is beautiful, and the name "Grace & Space" is just perfect. I'm with you ... I don't think blogging is going anywhere. I'm encouraged by your thoughts about the relative ease of the switch. I don't have the bandwidth to think of moving myself just yet, but maybe in the future?

I hear you about the bandwidth, Lois. It took me about half a year to get here. It was worth every step of the way and the timing seemed to fit where I find myself right now. No matter where we're writing from, we continue onward and upward together, our hearts in tune with each other and His. I'm so grateful for your companionship, friend.

Kudos to you Linda for bravely transitioning to Substack. If it saves you headaches from comment-glitches, it will be well worth the effort! I agree, the blogosphere is a wonderful place for the body of Christ to learn from each other, to find like-spirited souls, and to encourage one another.

After 15 years of irritating comment glitches, frustrated readers, and fear of losing everything if I fiddled with the innards, I can't begin to tell you how relieved I am to be here. Thanks for understanding, Nancy. All praise goes right up to Jesus.

Nice blog...but I don't want to "lose" you in all this "new" stuff. I really like my Linda... I don't want you to just be "another article based blog." I'm probably not looking at this in the right light...I hate change...lol...but I'll follow!

hugs

Promise.

That performance by United Pursuit really blessed me today, Linda - as did your words on transition. Thank you, friend!

I loved that piece and had to share it. We constantly need to refocus on the One who holds the world in His hands. I wonder if He weeps ... but there are no tears in heaven?

Expand full comment

I think God does weep. Just as Jesus wept over the pain and suffering in this world. The scripture about Him wiping every tear from our eyes takes place after the new heaven and new earth in Revelation. The song reminds us that He is our JOY. It is because of Him that we can hold both joy and sorrow in our hearts.

Interesting, June. Thanks for that Scriptural clarification. And oh yes, many of us have become quite adept at holding joy and lament at the same time. He understands. I'm grateful.

I appreciate your perspective. Change and transition do not keep the same pace--and I tend to rush them both.

I hope you enjoy your move to substack. While I have to keep my website for my business, I'm starting to use substack, as well. I like it.

Your new blogging space looks great, Linda! And, as always, i appreciate your words. I agree about old-school blogging. I much prefer it to social media and I really appreciate the community and connections. I know I haven't been around as much lately but I'm really hoping to post more regularly in the coming weeks.

And I appreciated your thoughts on change and transition. I hadn't really thought about the difference, but that makes sense. I have had a lot of change over the last few months, and there will be more to come in the new year. Right now, I think I am in a time of transition - getting used to some new things and also facing uncertainty over what is next. It is is important to take time to reflect on it all and to listen to what God is saying.

I bet you could really speak to this whole transition challenge, Lesley, with so much going on in the last months and knowing that '24 will be bringing more unknowns. Yeah, uncertainty is hard to navigate because it's well ... so uncertain. I've found great solace in embracing the truth that God never changes like shifting shadows. This has helped me when everything else seems to be spinning into something unfamiliar.

Looking forward to hearing how you move through these changing times, friend.

This is as lovely post and congratulations, Linda. It looks terrific and is very clean and nice. That photo of the water and chairs -- love it. I agree with you about old-school blogging. I think it is here to stay and evolve, too. FB can keep you up to date a bit on people but blogging helps you "know" them far more intimately and personally. That's not everyone's thing but it is mine.

Jeanie, it's so good to meet you this morning! I'm with you, this whole blogging thing has become part of our DNA. I'm kind of excited to see how it evolves and changes in this next season. Technology is making it easier to navigate and for some of us that's a very good thing.

Love, love, LOVE your new space! I have been thinking of making a change for a long time, but I truly do not have the time or energy for such an undertaking. So much about my blog has changed, people have trouble leaving comments and aren't notified when I post, and I've lost touch with so many. You have given me hope that one day, if I ever have time and energy, I could possibly make the transition to a better blogging platform. Thank you for sharing your heart with us. May God continue to bless you and yes, enlarge your coasts! Love you, sweet friend.
