Linda, I always love my time on the porch with you! Your new rhythms are so restful, and those candles have already made their way into my Amazon shopping cart!!
Oh ... I hope you love them as much as I do, Donna. My old ones are in a bag ready to go to the town swap shop tomorrow. I know they'll bring joy to the next family.
So many goodies here again, Linda. Encouraging reflections and online reads. :) Thank you! Reading Hannah Brencher's article I found out about and joined up to her coming Advent 2023 Journey. :) Love and blessings of grace and space!
I'm a huge Hannah Brencher fan and she doesn't even know it. Her Monday morning newsletter is always worth a read. I look forward to hearing about your Advent Journey with her, Trudy. Please keep us posted, ok?
Ah, I feel more rested just reading about a slower time and more solitude in fall, Linda. Clicking on several of your links here. I just finished reading Henry Cloud's Necessary Endings. I got a lot of good info from it. Those window candles sound amazing!
Yeah. Necessary Endings was a helpful book at a difficult time for me, too, and I've recommended it often. Henry Cloud's calm tone and wise, common sense approach always hits home.
I wish this was the calm before the storm; we have been so busy this season-- mostly I think because all 3 boys have things going on and though they are 16, 17, & 19 we have hardly ever had this happen before where I feel like someone has something going on nearly every night. We tend to be mostly homebodies so this has been quite an adjustment for us. I think it's leading me towards making sure our holidays are extra low-key this year!
Oh my goodness, yes your life will be busy and chaotic and all those wild things that come with having teens. One of my daughters has two and the other has four. There are few, if ever, dull moments. I like to go and just sit on the sidelines and laugh.
I'll have to check out The Lazy Genius' checklists--sounds like it's right up my alley! Like Cindy (below) I've started my Christmas shopping and will start decorating soon--just a bit each day. It's hard to savor the Christmas season if we're scrambling to complete everything before the houseguests arrive. / Thank you, as always for the reading recommendations! / Those window candles sound wonderful, turning themselves on and off. And I do love to see a home with the windows aglow!
I'm with you, Nancy. Scrambling last minute exhausts and irritates me and keeps me from enjoying prettying up the house for winter. I like your idea of doing a bit each day. Layering is fun and relaxing and the results look so much richer than trying to do it all in a few hours.
Yep, I'm keeping Amazon in business. There are very few stores way out here on the Cape but even if there were, my days of endlessly trooping through malls is long gone.
The cooler days definitely help me transition to the next season. I love seeing the towns decorated for Christmas, but I don't intend to skip the season of Gratitude! The holidays are a time I like to savor and so I view lists and other organizational tools as a way to slow things down. Enjoyed your thoughts and images today, friend!
Lovely candles! Falling into the rhythm of fall is so comforting. And you've captured that comfort here with your words and visuals. We experience the season's to their fullest here, in Alberta -- from high heat in summers lately to frigid cold temperatures in winter -- we transition through it all, but not always gracefully. There might be bumper fender bender from time to time, or a slip on ice, or a shopping for that fan when they are already all sold out...Regardless, making our own pace during any season makes for an enjoying stroll instead of a frenzy of exhausting activity! Thanks for letting us in on your cozy stroll in November, Linda!
Welcome home again, world traveler. I live vicariously through your journeys. We were hoping to do something in the spring but with the world situation as it is, it's better for us to sit tight for now. Maybe someday ...
Definitely gonna check out the candles. I am weary of the cords!
And I am with you in the list making and the “checking it twice “ as the days fly! Why did I think that time would slow down when the kids left home...?
I saw your candles in the windows when I was at your house the other day and I love them. They look nice and solid and it's great there are no cords involved!! Enjoy not having to plug them in every day!
I've got to tell you your early November rhythms are really soothing and cozy to have read today.
Thanks bunches for sharing these rhythms with Sweet Tea & Friends this month.
Soothing and cozy is good. Especially right about now when there's so much pulling at us. Thanks for your encouraging words, friend.
Such a beautiful description of November!
It's been so lovely, hasn't it ...

Thank you for your beautiful reflections, Linda. I’m going to check out those candles. November blessings to you.
Yay! You got it! You've made my day, Kitty. Thanks for going the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th mile to be here. I can't tell you how much that means to me.

I do love this time of year. I have already started Christmas shopping so that December will not be all chaos.

I understand. I can't remember the last time I was in a mall!!

'I view lists and other organizational tools as a way to slow things down.'
That makes perfect sense. Maybe gives us a sense of control or peace or ...?
Yes, control, peace. For me, they also reduce the possibility of forgetting something that might add unwanted stress to the busy season!
I forgot to mention forgetting.
All I can say is this is delightful.. Love the idea, the candles, the words. You warmed my heart today!
Jean, your words are like a warm smile on a cold, dreary day. Bless you, friend.

'we transition through it all, but not always gracefully'
this, the story of our lives, right?
Such a lovely post, Linda!
I am still trying to adjust to a whole new pace of life after coming back from my glorious vacation in Greece! 🏝️✈️
Hugs and blessings

It can't slow down if they keep returning, right?
Especially if they keep producing adorable grandkids!
Exactly!
And Anne Lamont!!🤣🥲
Oh yeah. Top shelf.

Wait 'til you see them glow and flicker! I'm thinking this might be a lovely housewarming gift for someone special next summer ... mmm.
I'm enjoying the lull before the holidays are upon us. Wonderful reflection today, Linda!
I hope you'll get to enjoy the grandkids, friend ...
