Linda this is just so uplifting hearing what your up to. I was just thinking about your little library the other day and I was happy to see you share it here. I'd be on the porch all summer too I don't have one. But I so love being porch people with my friend on her porch.
Thanks bunches for sharing with Sweet Tea & Friends this month dear friend. ❤️🤗☕
The opening of local ice shops is certainly life giving...and so would a porch be to me. If I had a porch so lovely. I know that must be your happy place!! Your photos and sweet words are life-giving too:) Have a beautiful Mother's Day my friend!!
I loved the daffodil story—such a sweet reminder of how a little care goes a long way. Your porch life sounds dreamy, and now I’m seriously craving peanut butter crunch ice cream. Thanks for sharing these cozy moments!
Linda, what a refreshing uplifting post of what’s saving your springtime! My husband and I are traveling with friends and their companionship and the places we are seeing is what is saving my springtime. Your pictures are beautiful! Thanks for sharing this!
Linda, peanut butter and chocolate is my favorite too, but I love that you are going to try a new flavor every time you visit the ice cream shop this summer. Maybe you can keep a record and share some favorites later in the year? :-) What is saving my life right now? The prayers and encouragement of friends far and wide. Hugs, friend.
Linda, I really enjoyed reading this. That daffodil story says so much with so little — gentle care can do wonders. And yes, those bold seagulls made me smile. I love how you notice the quiet gifts of the season. Thanks for sharing.
Also… I have to admit — I wasn’t sure at first where “the Cape” is 😄 but I looked it up — Cape Cod, right? It sounds like a beautiful place to welcome spring.
My favorite at DQ is a Mint Oreo Blizzard with chocolate soft serve as the base. Jo and I went to one the other day and I was drooling for one. :) Opened the door to enter and the sign said, "We are temporarily not serving chocolate soft serve." We turned around and walked out. Such earth-shattering news! :( But we will try again. And again. And again. Hope you have a soft, easy Spring and Summer.
Such wonderful peeks at what Spring looks like for you on the Cape. How lovely that sunset watchers applaud God's handiwork each evening! I can't wait to enjoy my quiet time on the deck. Until May, when the largest of the trees finally fill out, there's not enough shade and the sun shines right into my eyes. In addition, spring breezes tug unmercifully at pages, making it hard to write and read. I have managed to get out there in the afternoon when the house offers shade. But I still have to weigh down any loose pages. Our daffodils have come and gone; the roses will be next on the scene. Our bushes are sporting lots of buds!
That's true. I never really thought of that before, Nancy. It really is hard to read or write outside. The sun, the wind, the distractions (mostly good ones). Interesting observation on this windy, sunny afternoon!
Love this so much, Linda, especially the community sunset applause! Also, I have to admit, I’m a little jelly of your porch! I’d be spending all my time out there, too.
Jerralea, I'm so glad to see you this afternoon. I hope you're enjoying a beautiful sunshine-y day, warm breezes, and the sights and scents of early May.
I love seeing the contrasting colours of nature that spring begins on our landscape. Instead of grey tones, the land bursts forth with jewel tones against the neutral colours like straw yellow and golden brown. That's what is "saving (my) springtime life." And you are much more adventurous with ice cream flavours than me! I tend to stick with vanilla and will stretch myself from time to time with a dish of strawberry & other summer fruit flavours.
Yes, yes, Lynn ... the subtle hues and vibrant colors and the scents and textures and sounds that come with all this new life is incredible. Yesterday we drove under an arch of bright green budding maples with the sunlight shining through. It was like a glimpse of heaven.
After what seemed like a never ending winter, we are rejoicing in spring! Outdoor time on the deck, tucking tiny seeds in the raised bed gardens, tending seedlings that will soon go into the ground ending the daily in-and-out, meadowlark song, trees budding, there’s so much to love about this time of year.
Oh yes, Linda! The planting and tending, the buds, the birdsong, and simply being outside are such awesome gifts, aren't they ... especially for us who live with those never-ending winters.
I love that you could bring the daffodil back to life. They delight me every spring when they bloom in our yard. Your porch looks so inviting, too. I can certainly see why you spend so much time there. Spring here in Georgia has already peaked, so I really enjoyed seeing it just coming to the Cape. You are so blessed to live there. Have a great weekend, Linda!
Martha, it's kind of neat how the weather is always evolving, never the same in the same place at the same time. What a world God has created for us to nurture and enjoy!
OHHHHH!!!! That seagull and that view of either the Bay or the Sound (not sure which; doesn't matter 😁)!! You have just made my heart go all pitter-patter! We will be on the Cape for three weeks in June and I am now just counting the days. Your photos are so perfect I can smell the smells and hear the water lap onto the shoreline. Thank you for this. Your post is "saving my life" right now! 🥰
Oh I know you can't wait! I know this is your happy place, Allison. Yep, we're a 5 minute drive to the bay. The seagulls love it there. I once saw one tear open someone's beach bag and swallow a whole Ziploc bag of something. Poor baby probably didn't live long once that plastic got in her tummy.
Oh my goodness! Poor bird. They will go after anything! They aren't afraid of people at all. I know they are scavengers, but they say "Cape Cod" to me as much as anything else. Nothing better than sitting on the beach with the bright sunshine as it dapples on the water (that is the only time I use that word :)). Perfection!

Yep, we're all porch people at heart, aren't we friend ...

Have the loveliest of weekends, Jennifer ... I hope you can celebrate with a little dish of icy, creamy goodness!
I loved the daffodil story—such a sweet reminder of how a little care goes a long way. Your porch life sounds dreamy, and now I’m seriously craving peanut butter crunch ice cream. Thanks for sharing these cozy moments!
Actually anything peanut butter sounds good right about now, doesn't it! I hope your weekend will be sweet and restful, Veronica ...
what's saving my life right now, you ask? probably the prayers and encouragements of friends far and wide. coffee. reading. my husband.
I hope this weekend is filled with all those good gifts you've named, Brooke. Prayer, encouragement, friends, coffee, reading, and your man.
Bless you.

Isn't it just the most awesome gift to have those kind of friends?! Happy travels to you, friend. Enjoy every minute together.

Those prayers continue, dear one.
And I'm deeply appreciating your thoughts on trusting God and not the outcome. I'm off to sit with your hard won wisdom some more.

Yes, we live on the outer Cape. It's a beautiful place ... especially in the 'off season' when there are few people around.
And let's hear it for that gentle care ... no matter where we live and what we encounter!

Bill, a perfect response to such 'earth-shattering news.' I'm sure we would have done the same.

I always cut the daffodils that are leaning over and fell to the ground and bring them inside to enjoy!
That's a good policy, Amy! I'll do the same from now on. They are so perky and life-giving, aren't they.

your porch, flowers, sandals, and seagulls are all so refreshing today. You brighten my soul today!!
So glad to offer a bright spot at the beginning of the weekend, Jean.
