I love this, Linda! God always redeems what the "locust" have eaten. This lesson has been a constant refrain murmuring in the background of my life. God is good. All the time. God is good. Blessings!

Oh, Linda! What a precious moment of encouragement from God! I personally love to find the little confetti pieces inside a card! It's just a little extra touch of thoughtfulness, to me. I pray God continually blesses you with reminders of His love. You are such a precious blessing to all!

This Lamentations verse was right on the time and a great reminder to praise God and cultivate gratitude in the midst of grief and disappointments. So good! 🙌🏾

Lamentations speaks our language when we can't seem to find the words. Seeing the Lamenter spell the grief and sorrow out in black and white is such a warm solace, isn't it ...

Yes! I love how the lamenter embraces grief instead of writing it off. It is very validating and needed.

And a helpful nudge not to be afraid of mourning's process.

I'm celebrating the arrival of autumn by drinking pumpkin spice teas!

Expand full comment

Oh I bet you are! What other autumn-teas do you like?

Expand full comment

Chais, Apple spice, maple, caramel, toffee teas!

I'm cradling a mug of plain ol' decaf right now, so that caramel sounds very inviting.

There's been something very helpful in having timeless words to those seasons of grief and deepest woe. Thank You, God, for the book of Lamentations.

It's way too easy to find serendipity in the joyful things. This is more fun.

Oh my, how I love this!! First of all because I’m not about pumpkin garland, but I am all about the composting. I use eggshells, coffee grounds, and vegetable scraps. And now I will be looking for treasures as I turn the rot & muck.

Thank you for your story and the reminder that gold can be found in the difficulty of mining seemingly impossible circumstances. I love this message. Thank you!!☺️

Lisa, hi, it's so good to see you! Finally, a sister compost aficionado. This makes me smile ... I'll be keeping my eyes open to hear about your own discoveries in the days ahead.

Finding that old confetti in the compost is such a fun surprise!

It’s amazing how moments like these remind us that there’s always something good to find, even in the mess.

Yes. It was a lesson I won't soon forget.

Ah..the lessons we learn when we dig into our dirt piles! We do harvest pumpkins - peachy pinks, grey ghosts, sugars, jack-o-laterens, tiger-striped...and varieties we're not sure the name of! My husband is the gardener and I just enjoy the harvest. :)

Oh I hope you'll be sharing pics of all these beauties as you write this fall, Lynn. Pretty please?!

Let's be honest, family didn't complain because it we received a small metallic "celebrate" in our cards. It was the other 100 pieces of confetti and glitter that poured out of the cards all over the table, floor, kids, dogs, etc!! It was festive, surprising and enjoyable - the first few times. The kids ended up saying "It's a card from Aunt Linda, open it over the garbage can!!" We all had fun but were pleased when we could safely open cards again. Maybe it's time to start on the new generation coming up!

Wow, this is such an invitation/dare to start refilling my cards with those fondly remembered goodies. It sure sounds like you're missing the good old days again ...

I love your enthusiasm for composting, Linda! As for the sparkly CELEBRATE reminder in the dirt, what a smile-maker, no doubt put there by God himself! One time while weeding and trimming in the planting beds I found a perfect purple flower growing all by itself, and unlike anything else in our yard. Such a lovely surprise while mired in unpleasant tasks! I watered the little newcomer, but the next day it was gone. In retrospect it seemed a gift from God, meant to give me an uplift when I was feeling down.

Thank You, Lord, for little newcomers who brighten our days and point us right back to Your loving heart ...

Pam, I needed it today, too. I'm so glad you're hear, friend.

We've had compost bins in our back yard for many moons, Linda. It's not for gardening as it's too shady to do so, but it sure cuts down on garbage in our can. And what a fabulous lesson God has given to you and you have graciously passed on to us. Because of God's love, we can overcome the muck and mire of our lives and shine for Him. Blessings!

Mmm ... maybe somehow I can swing by and gather your compost and cart it back here. My wildflowers could sure use a major boost. It's only about a thousand miles or so?
